For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men?
for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
Being a man pleaser seems even weak when you talk about it in the world
A person who sways whichever way the wind blows
to make people like them
That’s really the crux of the issue, wanting people to like you
We all want people to like us or at the very least, have them not bother us
What price do we pay for that?
How much do we succumb to their wishes and disregard our own?
Being a people pleaser can be hidden,
no one else might know who you’re aiming to please
or it could be overt, someone trying to fit in, go along with the crowd
A relationship is a good example
People will do things they don’t really want to do,
not so much out of conviction of their own desires
but because they are trying to make the other person happy
That doesn’t mean making someone happy is wrong
and pleasing someone else is cowering to another’s wishes
There is a point of giving and loving and covering faults of misgivings,
forgiving, and all of that is normal
The term pleasing men is found things you don’t want to do,
almost that you are forced to do or that you choose to do
for the sole purpose of gaining their approval
When we are Christians, our focus should be much different,
that is to please God
That does mean we take a lower position before Him and do things His way
God loves a cheerful giver, so check your heart
Finding out what pleases Him can be found in His word,
then it is often humbling the flesh before Him, our Creator,
doing all the things we have learned in His word
that goes along with putting our hand to the plough and not looking back
or carrying our cross daily
Additional Scriptures:
