Many Christians believe that God is not in politics
They base their idea on the scripture where Jesus said,
And Jesus answering said unto them,
Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s,
and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at Him. Mark 12:17
Or similar scriptures where Jesus said My Kingdom is not of this world
There were good kings and bad kings,
Righteous Kings who loved and served God and those who didn’t
Some started out and did the right things,
some whose hearts were led astray
Others were wicked all the way though
Moses was in politics
He led God’s people out of Egypt and away from slavery
Moses spoke directly to Pharaoh on God’s behalf
Balaam was in politics and God used an ass to make sure Balaam knew to speak on God’s behalf to King Balak
Esther and Mordecai were both in politics
David was in Politics, in fact, as was Samuel, the prophet who was used by God to speak to David when he wasn’t always listening
Isaiah, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego
were all influential to their leaders
God used many of the major and minor prophets
to speak to the leaders of their time, and we could say they were in politics
Oh, but that was the Old Testament some are thinking as they read this
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Jesus said this:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18
We know this is true in politics, too as we see His work aforetime
This scripture spells it out plainly:
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord,
as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will. Proverbs 21:1
God has His worker bees infiltrated throughout
Whether we agree with them all or what they do,
or the influences they may ascribe to,
that does not give us the right to judge their hearts
or to decide the whole bunch are worthless and have wretched hearts
Judging their hearts is up to God
Our job is to pray and whatever else the Lord gives us to do in this regard
You might not know until you ask, but please do so with a humble heart
You might be surprised at His answer
