Practice Makes Perfect

It’s true
It’s true in life for just about anything you can do
If you practice something, you become good at it
Some are natural talents,
Some are necessity
I guess something you are bad at, you might not be able to master completely
like singing if you think you can’t sing,
but even with that,
you can train your vocal chords and learn techniques on how to carry a tune and become much better at it

I memorized 3 Psalms when I was younger
I knew I had the capability to memorize chunks of the bible
I decided I would start to memorize whole chapters
I chose Matthew 24 to start with as it is a perfect description of the end times which seems to be close if not already here
I got my flash cards and wrote down my scriptures
I wanted to memorize 2 scriptures a day
I started several months ago and gave up
The words were getting all jumbled and I wasn’t persistent
Six months later, I still know my first 8 verses
and some other parts of other scriptures in that chapter,
but I’m nowhere near memorizing the whole chapter

I brought to the Lord my failings, inquiring how to gain this skill
I was reminded of the saying: “Practice makes perfect”
It’s definitely applicable
A true statement and works for this
So even if I learn 1 scripture a week,
it will get me to where I want to be, eventually

Crushing it apparently isn’t going to work, but I must find a way that does work
I am concerned that we might not have our bibles at some point in the future
I want to learn whole chapters that are significant to me
Chapters that would be helpful for others who do not know the word

We should meditate on His word day and night,
so nothing but good can come from memorizing it

I have also been collecting scriptural songs I have learned over the years
Collecting their videos in my blog
For myself as well as anyone else who might be interested in hearing them
or learning them

We must be ready so we can speak the word in season and out,
especially as we see the day drawing near
and bring His word to those who do not know it
with as much respect for His word as is possible

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4

Scriptural References:

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15
