Praying for our Nation, or the World

Praying for a nation seems big. Praying for the world seems bigger.
How does one gain that kind of faith?

There was a man, his name was not imprinted on my memory,
but what he did was. He took a map of the world and laid on top of it,
prostate before the Lord. He fasted and wept and prayed. He believed.

The centurion is a good example of that kind of faith:
And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum,
there came unto Him a centurion, beseeching Him and saying,
“Lord, my servant lieth at home sick with the palsy and grievously tormented.” And Jesus said unto him, “I will come and heal him.”
The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy
that Thou shouldest come under my roof. But speak the word only,
and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority,
having soldiers under me. And I say to this man, ‘Go!’ and he goeth;
and to another, ‘Come!’ and he cometh;
and to my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he doeth it.”
When Jesus heard it, He marveled and said to those who followed,

“Verily I say unto you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”
Matthew 8:5-10

We know the bible says, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, so it goes back to God, when He teaches us in His word, we would do well to absorb it, to take His word at face value.

Every man is given a measure of faith.
For I say, through the grace given unto me,
to every man that is among you,
not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly,
according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith
. Romans 12:3
So, we have that faith that has been given to us,
we need to water and feed our faith with the word
and nurture it and it will grow.
Then, whatever we ask for, believing, it shall be given us.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mark 11:24

There may be more faith we can ask the Lord to help us grow.
Maybe we can pray for the world and know,
like the Centurion that God will hear.
There are still some who will listen to His call on their lives.
Maybe it would help to pray while lying on a map and maybe not.
Jesus hears and our prayers are precious to Him.
He does love the world and wants all who will to join us.
Let our hearts be responsive. Let us extend our love in prayers for others.
