Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding. v 5
Easier said than done
Practice makes perfect
Read about what He has done for others in His word
Write down your own answers to prayer
Listen and take heart to others’ answers to prayer
And make every effort to keep your mind stayed on Him
and humbling your thoughts
Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. v 6
Acknowledging Him here means to consider Jesus
in every single decision you make,
listening to what He might be saying,
being open to wisdom, to not doing things the way you always do
or the way you think is best,
but seeking God, praying, fasting and trusting
that He will make His will known to you.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. v 7
Thinking we’re all that is where we can stall and fumble
Even thinking that we know all about His word
and we are well-versed in scripture
does not mean we have all the answers
Continually keeping our minds open to His wisdom and the fear of God
which should never leave us
because He is the king of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Mighty,
the Awesome, and the Terrible God
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. v 8
When you’re walking in God’s ways
and have learned how to humble your thoughts and ways before Him,
you will notice His favor shining upon you
and you will be in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: v 9
The first fruits of our money, our time, all that we have or are given,
tangible and intangible.
Extra love to those who don’t deserve it, extra compassion, extra grace, kindness, gentleness
If you have been given a quality or strength, talent or material blessings,
share them
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal
it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty,
and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. v 10
Your barns will be filled with plenty
In other words, you won’t run out,
the supply, what you need, will always be there
The New Wine represents the Holy Spirit
Giving to others what the Lord has given us is very pleasing to God
Scripture tells us over and over that He will further bless us
and to share with others what He has given us
We’ll have plenty and our new wine will be plenty
which can signify that He is near to us and blessing us with His presence
Note:
The scriptures are not one-dimensional. On the contrary, the Word of God is alive and multi-faceted. The Holy Spirit always has more to share with us, so be open.
