Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song,
and His praise in the congregation of saints. v 1
God loves our songs. Whether they are long or short.
Jesus loves our heartfelt praise to Him
in communion with God and with His people.
A Song of degrees of David.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1
Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him:
let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. v 2
Christians are the adopted children of God.
Throughout history, those who chose to serve God have always been welcome.
Let them praise His name in the dance:
let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. v 3
God honored the uninhabited praise of King David
when he received the Ark of the Covenant.
God does not change.
As long as our hearts are pure and honoring Him, He still loves it
when His people rejoice with dance and instruments to praise and adore Him.
For the Lord taketh pleasure in His people:
He will beautify the meek with salvation. v 4
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
Let the saints be joyful in glory:
let them sing aloud upon their beds. v 5
God’s best for us is that we keep our eyes on Him and let Him bear our burdens.
By singing and glorifying Jesus, we will be joyful in His glory.
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
and a twoedged sword in their hand; v 6
The way to defeat the enemy is by keeping Jesus elevated.
Think of when Moses kept his hands raised, the enemy was defeated.
This also happened when Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho.
The two-edged sword represents the Word of God, who is Jesus.
To execute vengeance upon the heathen,
and punishments upon the people; v 7
With His Word, we execute punishment on the people.
As we focus on Jesus and are obedient to the Lord,
He will cause our enemies to fall.
To bind their kings with chains,
and their nobles with fetters of iron; v 8
In other words, the wicked will be rendered ineffective
as we pray and exalt the Lord.
To execute upon them the judgment written:
this honour have all His saints. Praise ye the Lord. v 9
The enemies will fall at the right and the left as we serve the Lord.
We are not doing this, but it happens when Jesus is exalted
and that is what we need to keep doing, exalting Jesus,
as the powers of darkness have to bow to Him due to His prominence.
