Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,
and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21
If the engrafted word is able to save our souls,
we should try to figure out exactly what that means
God often teaches in parables or metaphors
The other way to look at it is,
at times, He might be talking about what happens in the spiritual
He speaks in hidden ways in order for those who have ears may hear
and those who do not will miss the point
Be a stem grafted in Jesus, the True Vine, where we are gaining our spiritual nutrients and growing in the things of God as we go through this life…
Jesus says He is the Vine and we are the branches:
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without Me ye can do nothing. John 15:5
In Romans, the Jewish people were cut off from the vine,
but will again be grafted in
and we are warned not to think of ourselves better than we ought
as we can also be cut off as they were
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith.
Be not highminded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest He also spare not thee. Romans 11:19-21
All the arguing about the Jewish people being favored by God or not,
our part is to love them and pray for them
They are, in fact, God’s family
and He chose to be born in the flesh as an heir of Abraham’s flesh
as He promised Abraham and we are also His seed when we are adopted
If we do not honor His word, we risk not allowing His word to reign in our hearts
His love must be in our hearts and His word engrafted into our souls
