The wicked one continues to lie, continues to try to persuade those who follow God to follow him instead.
Isaiah says when we look upon him, when we finally see him at the end, we will ask,
Is this the one who fooled the nations?
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners? Isaiah 14:16-17
There is not one place in the bible that says that Satan has no power.
What it does say is that against God’s power, there is no comparison.
The Devil uses his power of persuasion, the very darkness in humans that might satisfy lusts
to become a god like he wants to be. He wants to be worshiped.
Since we are created in God’s image, there is a choice we have to make:
to serve the Living God or to serve ourselves or the evil one.
If we truly see Jesus for who He is, we will be able to make our choice.
Once we choose to follow Him, we must give up all of ourselves
so that we can be transformed into the persons that He has created us to be.
Until then, we will suffer in the flesh, dying to self which can be a type of pain as we learn to be humble.
Some people will want no part of that. They will continue to honor and cherish this world or themselves,
despite what they learned about Jesus. They will be led away by their own lusts.
We get sorts of reprieves from the evil one but until we get to the other side,
he will be compelling us to listen to him, to go with him
and will be enticing us to care about what he’s talking about.
He’s like a broken record, repeating the same things, the same ways over and over.
God please help us to remember who is boss.
Satan may be the boss of the Earth, but he never gets to be the boss of each of us unless we let him.
