Relationship with Jesus
What does that even mean?
He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
The relationship is that He is God and we are human
Yes, true
His wonder is so great
We are so small in comparison
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
Psalm 139:6
He is so big, so vast, so incomprehensible
He came to earth as a man
Because of that fact, it easier to relate to Him in some ways
He was still the same God when He spoke to Adam and Eve
and when He called Moses His friend
and when He made the ass talk to Balaam
and when He answered Job out of the whirlwind
He is also the same God who struck Paul blind to reveal Himself to him.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
How do we find Jesus in our life and relate to Him and let Him relate to us?
How do we have a real relationship with the Son of God?
If He revealed. Himself to you and you responded, that is the start
When you read His word and something becomes real to you, that is Him speaking
He created us for His pleasure
He yearns to have deep fellowship with us
He should not play second fiddle to anyone or anything in our lives
How to get there? The more you know Him, the more you’ll love Him
He has to know us
That comes by spending time with us
He already knows everything about us, but does He know us intimately?
How much of ourselves have we given to Him?
Like the most important person to you on earth? Only better?
He knows every single triumph and failure you have had and still cares about you
More love than any human is capable or, than any human can comprehend
He will say to some on the last day
I never knew you, depart from Me!
When you read His word listen for what He is asking
You can see it all through the Old Testament where He relates to His people
You can see it in the New Testament
where He had relationships with the people in His life
There are struggles that the apostles had that helped their relationships with Jesus to grow and become stronger since He was the risen Savior
He wants to have a real relationship with each of us
The richness of His love and care is there for the seeking
When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face; my heart said unto thee,
Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Psalm 27:8
And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
Jesus has to be important to you
If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife,
and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also,
he cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:26
This sounds a bit harsh
Hating is not the sense of hating people, but the flesh in the people
and the fact that they are less loved than Jesus Christ Himself in a Christian’s life
Always choosing Jesus the Christ over any other person or thing
I knew a Christian family whose adult daughter had become a witch
They let her live in their house
They cared for her
She refused the gospel
They were not hating their daughter as the scripture talks about
They were choosing their daughter over Christ
They could have helped her without living with her
They were dwelling with darkness which we are warned against
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14
This scripture is not just talking about living with these people that hate Christ,
but also of having close communion with them
Our days on this earth are few.
This is our time to love Jesus more than the world
and gain relationship with Him and also start to grow in our relationship with Him
The treasure of the Kingdom, many cannot understand
The treasure of Jesus is more than any earthly wealth and few find it
