A picture of this guy or someone like him used to be a sort of joke.
It was used in comics, with cartoon characters.
When things got bad, when there were problems in the world,
you’d see this guy holding the sign,
reminding everyone that things’ll get worse,
and though you can’t change the world, it’s time to get your life in order.
Getting our lives in order starts with God.
And ends with God.
Life always reflects back to God.
Sometimes I feel like wearing a sandwich board.
It seems nobody is listening that The End is Near.
Nobody can hear.
The world is so loud.
The waves of sin are crashing in.
Some are drowning in sin.
They have lost all solidity in what is right.
They are tossed about, without a foundation.
Those of us who do have a foundation, who are holding on,
sometimes for dear life, have to stay close to the Lord,
our Rock of Salvation, in order to endure the wickedness
and not be filled with fear by what we see and hear around us.
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain,
and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward,
and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water,
carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth,
without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. Jude 1:11-13
Note: things’ll is slang and used in speech often. It is things + will
