Evil is in the world as we all know
Constantly competing with our love and devotion to Jesus Christ
How can we combat it when it is in our faces constantly?
We can barely spend a portion of a day without hearing about
or being confronted by evil
Continuing to follow the Lord and carry our cross, not looking back
Not loving the world or the things in it is a choice
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough,
and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62 KJV
If something is against what the Lord has taught in His word,
listen to that knowledge and refuse to be a part of it
Jesus talks of plucking out our eyes or cutting off our hand:
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off,
and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee:
it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye,
rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. Matthew 18:8-9 KJV
This is a metaphor to cut off the things that cause us to sin,
do not partake of them
They will hinder your relationship with God
Maybe it’s friends at the bar or even gossips at work?
Maybe it’s horror or pornographic movies?
Or video games?
Or music full of luring filthiness?
Or any idol you can think of that might cause you
to turn your heart from Jesus?
Whatever it might be, cut it off, refuse it and choose the Lord
Stay clean
Keep your sins confessed and above board
Show everything to the Lord, don’t try to hide anything
That was the mistake Adam and Even made, hiding from God
He sees all, He knows all, there is no hiding
By trying to hide, we are not revering Him
By trying to hide, we are not giving Him the place of God in our lives,
as we cannot cleanse our own sin
We are not able to correct mistakes we have made or sin we have chosen
If we try, that is an insult to the work that was done for us on the cross
He removes our sin, He bore our sin
With a confession in humility, we can be confident to accept His forgiveness
Don’t ignore what the Holy Spirit is showing you and teaching you
We all need His guidance now more than ever
Cut off the things of the world, that can distract you from Jesus
or encourage you to sin in word or deed
Let Him have the reins
Let Him rule your heart
And let Him wash you and remove your sins
Peter saith unto Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.
Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me.
John 13:8 KJV
If I wash you not, you have no part with Me
