Jesus is a restorer.
On restoration, Jesus’ main function is that He came to restore men to God.
Starting way back, Joseph was restored to his brothers and his family after he was sold into slavery.
The Israelites in slavery were set free.
Then, God’s desire was that they were restored to their promised land God had given to Abraham.
That didn’t happen for the first bunch.
Job was restored double for everything he lost.
Nehemiah restored the city of Jerusalem.
The Bible is filled with restoration.
Watch for it.
Times and Seasons
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head,
and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither:
the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:20-21
When God restored Job all that he had lost,
He did not give him back the same sons and daughters that he had lost.
God restored in His way.
When you have lost what you had in this world, whether it is people or things,
you may not get them back.
You may also get them back in a greater way than they were before.
God’s restoration power is evident when He brings about healing in a relationship.
He brings about love where there was none. He brings about fruition when there was barren soil.
In times of despair and heartache, He brings about comfort.
He is always there to comfort us, to draw us close to Him in our misery.
Those times of emptiness are opportunities to grow in our relationship with Jesus.
He allows those times, those barren times of despair where He can show Himself in a greater way.
All of our lives are about us learning more about God.
He gives us many opportunities to do so.
By resisting or allowing pride to determine what we think is best, we can miss out on what He is doing.
We have our ideas and our ways.
We like to tell God how things ought to be.
We pray for our ideas and our desires of what He should do.
If we are not praying according to His will, we are not submitting to Him, letting His will happen.
We want to be careful not to resist what He is doing.
He molds us and remolds us.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth.
Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Isaiah 45:9
it’s all about submitting to what He is doing in our lives.
The Israelites wandered for a long time because they refused to submit to the Lord.
Some didn’t even make it to God’s desired place for them.
They blew it.
We blow it from time to time.
Learning and growing and allowing God to take away and give us something different.
Restoration.
It will come and we will be glad.
