Safety in Jesus’ Guidance

The times we are living in now might give people an uneasy feeling
Some might be afraid as their surroundings seem unsafe
You can feel the turmoil
Almost like where in Exodus there was a darkness that could be felt
Some might be hurting financially or otherwise
The times we are living in are uncertain

We can say we trust in the Lord
And we might actually do that
We are all different
and have all had different experiences with the Lord
places where He has taught us His faithfulness
That does not mean it’s easy
Or that we are certain of His voice and leading all the time
We can be certain about some things and unsure about something else
Remembering to stay close to the brethren
insomuch as you see the day drawing near

Each step we take on our journey
is meant to be a step we take with Jesus
That still does not mean
we will know everything He is saying when we want to know
We might be walking by faith at times,
unsure of what our next step is supposed to be

Have you ever been blindfolded for a surprise party
or some other reason, a game as a kid perhaps?
You are led by another
You have to trust that person to lead you,
you can’t see, so you have a choice to trust them
or to take off your blindfold and stop letting them be in charge

We have a choice, too
We can stop being reliant upon Jesus
and take the steering wheel back
Where we are in charge
and not listening to His guidance and direction

We can do things in the flesh that might be good ideas
He does give us wisdom to prepare and to protect us
He is ever-caring for each of us who have given our lives to Him
Having our lamps filled with oil so we can be ready is crucial
That parable of the Ten Virgins is not just for when Jesus returns
but can be applied to our lives now
and the importance of the closeness we have with the Lord
in all sorts of circumstances

When we look at uncertainty, we cannot always figure out the certainty
We cannot always make the best plan
The more we listen and seek the Lord for wisdom and direction,
the more we draw near to Him,
the closer we stay to Him,
the more effective our lives will be for Him
in any circumstances we find ourselves in

Scriptural References:

And the Lord said unto Moses,
Stretch out thine hand toward heaven,
that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt,
even darkness which may be felt. Exodus 10:21

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins,
which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made,
Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said unto the wise,
Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying,
Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you:
but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came;
and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage:
and the door was shut.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour
wherein the Son of man cometh. Matthew 25:1-13
