Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
Matthew 4:10
That is our best choice day after day
While the tempter might not come to us
and offer us the kingdoms of the world,
he offers us other things that might be enticing
Things that seem desirable, but are full of wickedness
as they will lead us away from God
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua. 24:15
Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him,
Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean,
and change your garments: Genesis 35:2
Putting away strange gods
It’s not as clear when this culture serves strange gods
The music industry is one example and it’s full of darkness
There are many idols that people serve today
Things are more disguised
Way back when people would sacrifice their children to the gods Molech, Dagon and Ashtoreth and now, they just walk into abortion clinics
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17
The differences are vast and at first, it may not appear to be so clear
but once you start thinking about it, if you have chosen to serve the Lord,
He will make things clear to you so that you can change your garments
as the above scripture mentions
Changing garments are representative of
removing things that have crept into our lives that are not of God
For all people will walk every one in the name of his god,
and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.
Michah 4:5
