Sometimes God had His people collect earthly treasures.
And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses;
and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: Exodus 12:35
God gave Solomon great wealth.
Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year
was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold, 1 Kings 10:14
Abraham and Job and Joseph and many of His servants had earthly wealth, others did not.
Earthly treasures are not promised to any of us, no matter how much God loves us.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 3:6
Jesus is our treasure.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
What if you had a lot of gold and silver? You could be very rich. Many worries come from great wealth.
People will want some of it, so it would have to be hidden and quietly owned.
Thieves could steal it.
If it was put it in the bank in a safe deposit box, but then the bank could seize that in times of trouble
or the owner could get killed for it if someone followed them.
If Jesus leads you to invest, do what He tells you to do.
Jesus might give you the ability to accumulate commodities for a time of difficulty,
just make sure it’s really God leading you and not greed.
God put Joseph in a position where he could help a whole country
and his father’s house survive during a great famine.
We do not know what the future holds and even if God tells us about the future,
that does not mean we know what He is going to ask.
Moses was surprised sometimes at what God asked him to do.
The widow was about to make her last meal and she was expecting that they two would then die.
God had it all figured out, but he stretched her faith just like he did her flour and her oil.
And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there:
behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
So he arose and went to Zarephath.
And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks:
and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said,
Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel,
and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks,
that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
For thus saith the Lord God of Israel,
The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail,
until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah:
and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail,
according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah. 1 Kings 17:8-16
Whatever you do, do it unto the Lord, including investing.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Colossians 3:23
The coming times are going to be lean. Seek the Lord as to how to prepare.
Do what you can and be obedient.
He wants us to give to others even in our need and He will bless us and be with us.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together,
and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
