At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying,
Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted,
and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1-4
Faith is simple
Not complicated
Like the way a child believes when they are very young
It’s about humility
Realizing that God is God
and trusting Him, without reservation
When we were children, we trusted our parents
We didn’t consider how we would eat or drink
or wherewith we would be clothed
We knew they would care for us
We had faith in them
Now we’re adulting, taking care of ourselves, concerned about this and that
Jesus said we cannot enter the kingdom of God
unless we become like a little child
Put off your thoughts that would refuse to let you humble yourself
like a child, be trusting and accepting of what Jesus has for us
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. Luke 18:17
The camel getting through the eye of the needle is similar
The eye of the needle was where people could enter a city
after the city gates had been shut
The camel had to bow down, even get on its knees in order to enter
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Mark 10:25
There again, humility
The same idea as becoming like a child to accept what Jesus says
He is God and we are not
Pretty simple
He made the world and all that is in it
He can and does do anything He wants
Once we accept our lowly position,
realizing that He is the maker of heaven and earth
and that He created the world in the palm of His hands,
we are walking in simple faith
and accepting our faith as a gift from God, not to be earned or demanded
For I say, through the grace given unto me,
to every man that is among you,
not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly,
according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3
