Sin = Pride
Without humility before God and the fear of God,
we are heading down the wrong road,
no matter how holy we think we are,
no matter how righteous we consider ourselves,
we are not walking with Jesus if we have the sin of pride,
we are not following Jesus.
We are heading in another direction.
That direction, without repentance, can cause a great fall.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
The only remedy for pride is humility.
Humility before the Lord in the fear of the Lord.
Humility will come either willingly or when God decides to bring Judgment.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased;
and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 14:11
As we know, pride is what caused Lucifer to fall.
A created being thinking he is worthy to be worshiped
or honored above God, how dare he?
People expect to lauded all the time.
The only way to know if that shoe fits is to check with God,
to realize when we have taken something out of His hands
and taken it upon ourselves to play God, to sit in His seat and take charge.
There are many people in the world that do just that.
They find their opinions of utmost importance.
We see it every day, with all sorts of leaders and celebrities
and people we know and we might even notice it in ourselves.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you,
but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him,
to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deuteronomy 10:12
Without humility there is no fear of God and without the fear of God,
there is no humility before God. The two go hand in hand.
Realizing that He is maker of heaven and earth
and that all things belong to Him.
There are many ways to remain humble, find out what that is and walk in it.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3
The more we empty ourselves, the more God can fill us.
The more of the world we give up, the more He will give us.
Humility is precious to God. Humility before God is a great honor to Him.
Jesus knows how hard it is to give up those things that we desire.
Consider this scripture with regard to giving up the flesh:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete
withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:48
