If Solomon fell away, any of us can fall away
The belief of Once Saved, Always Saved is a false sense of security
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God,
as was the heart of David his father. 1 Kings 11:4
There is no way to know if he repented at the very end,
but scripture does not state that he did
Solomon went against wisdom
He had 700 wives and over 300 concubines
Scripture says that his wives turned his heart from following the Lord
That was a warning and an admonition he knew:
to not mingle with those who serve other gods
The Lord was displeased with Solomon
and promised to take his kingdom from him,
but part of it would be saved for the sake of his father, King David
Instead of repenting, Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam
who would be the one who ruled when the kingdom was rent from his son
1 Kings 11
The whole story is quite a warning
for any of us who lose our fear of the Lord
or Jesus as our first love
Let us always keep the Lord as the One close to our hearts
Remembering it is by His grace through faith we are saved
If we deny Him, He will deny us
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him:
if we deny him, he also will deny us: 2 Timothy 2:12
