Spiritual Laws are when the Bible gives us commands or advice.
There are sometimes consequences listed with those instructions.
This is a big subject and this is just a taste.
We all think of the Ten Commandments as Spiritual Laws, but there are many more.
Any time Jesus says something, it is a spiritual law.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35
The Beatitudes, a series of Spiritual Laws
Matthew 5: 3-12
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Jesus is encouraging us to do these things and to bless others, thus we will be blessed as they are laws.
Spiritual Laws have consequences. That means if you don’t obey them, then, something will happen.
Spiritual Laws are more of a sure thing than human laws.
Jesus set the captives free. His forgiveness releases us from the sin we entangle ourselves with.
He has also made a way for us to be forgiven:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood,
to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just,
and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:23-26
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace; Ephesians 1:7
More Spiritual Laws:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together,
and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
What you give, you will get. Pretty simple.
We think of it only if we give good things, but if we are to give negative things,
they will also come back to us.
This goes along with another Spiritual Law,
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7
What you sow, so shall ye reap.
Humans that do not know Jesus the Messiah call retribution Karma.
God repays everyone, there are consequences, both good and bad, that happen to people when they do not obey God.
There are so many laws, that are written in the word. If you look for them, you will find them.
Love your enemies is a spiritual law.
Do not let your love grow cold is a spiritual law.
You must be born again is a spiritual law.
Forgive and ye shall be forgiven is a spiritual law.
Not all Spiritual Laws are good or have good consequences.
There are two spiritual laws mentioned in the Bible in Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
We do not want to operate in the law of sin and death. A quick example of that might be unforgiveness.
If we are not forgiving, we are not following God’s law of forgiveness and thereby, we are following another law.
Be careful. There are consequences to not obeying Christ.
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Make every effort to fulfill the law of Christ.
As we have considered Spiritual Laws, be conscious of following God’s Laws and obeying Him.
Lest we be found desolate and without God’s protection due to our own choices.
