But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. John 4:32
Paul told us how babes drink milk,
but those who are well versed in the word,
who have exercised their senses,
who really understand God’s ways, eat meat
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age,
even those who by reason of use
have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:14
Spiritual meat is when the Holy Spirit
has been able to teach you some choice morsels
so that you understand their spiritual significance
How do we get to that point, where we can eat spiritual meat?
We have to work for it
Yes, even though people get confused about works,
we have some work to do
Spiritual work, like reading the word,
seeking God’s face, praying, fasting, obeying
Spiritual work is different than fleshly work
although it takes effort on our part
God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him:
But without faith it is impossible to please Him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
The flesh profits nothing, the Spirit gives life
We are exhorted in the bible to work for spiritual meat;
that meat that endures forever,
that meat that comes straight from Christ
Jesus saith unto them,
My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me,
and to finish His work. John 4:24
What kind of meat?
For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. John 6:55
That is, becoming one with Christ
Some people cannot handle that
It is not a fleshly meat, it is spiritual, being one with Him
And the glory which thou gavest Me I have given them;
that they may be one, even as We are one: John 17:22
Jesus is talking of the oneness that He shared with the Father
and that we also are one body with Him
Some examples of the meat, the work of God:
Sharing the gospel
Bringing others to Christ
Following His commandments
teaching His commandments
Studying His word diligently
Any teaching, including this one, is missing parts,
God has more to share, delve in, let His Holy Spirit teach you
God is so Huge, there is so much to learn,
I believe it will take us all eternity to learn of Him
There is always more
Spiritual work is difficult at times, it takes effort, time
God honors those works we do for His kingdom
What sorts of treasures are we laying up?
Asking ourselves if we treasure
the same things God treasures is a good litmus test
Judging ourselves, examining our own hearts before God
But let a man examine himself,
and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.. 1 Corinthians 11:28
And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
And did all drink the same spiritual drink:
for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them:
and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:2-4
