Staying Humble

When you think you’re all that, the fall is coming
Pride rears its ugly head and perches itself
above even the throne of God
Pride is what caused Satan to fall and he still entices us today
What a good person you are!
Look at you!
You pray, you read your Bible,
you do so many things for the Lord!
You know so much about scripture!
You are much more on the right track than others!
You know scriptures and even make the world a better place!
You are amazing!
While that is a parody, there are people who think just like that

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:11
It is not the deeds themselves that please God
It is your heart before God doing things only to be seen by God
so He will receive the glory
Once you start patting yourself on the back
and giving yourself atta boys/girls, you have fallen into Satan’s trap

It seems to be a constant battle
It never goes away
Humbling ourselves before the Lord
Remembering that He is God

I watched a movie called The Nun and she was telling others,
“Humility is so hard to attain, once I feel like I have gotten there,
I realize I’m feeling proud for being humble.”

When The Serpent tempted Eve with his enticing words
to eat off of the very tree that God told them was off limits,
that same principle can be applied again and again
We also have a garden to tend to in each of our lives
There are things the Lord wants us to focus on
and things we have access to that will give us grief
and give the Lord grief as well
Stay away from those things
He knows you will be wise, the tempter said
Wisdom comes from the Lord
Not from mingling with the wisdom of the world,
which is foolishness in God’s sight

Satan, the tempter will never understand God’s wisdom
He has his own way of thinking
Why someone thinks they could be like God is beyond me
Who could possibly?
God is their Creator

I know the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Satan must not have gotten past the fear God
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well:
the devils also believe, and tremble.
James 2:19
He must have some level of fear,
but not the kind that leads you into righteousness and truth
He’ll forever be stuck at the beginning of wisdom

Let’s not be like him
Humility is not easy
It takes a lot of practice
There are different levels to attain
And it takes carrying your cross, accepting all that He gives you
and denying yourself so that Jesus can be glorified
Not an easy task
It might mean not winning that argument
or getting up at wee hours of the morning to pray
It could mean a lot of things
None of us will ever be the greatest, most humble person ever
That was John the Baptist
Verily I say unto you,
Among them that are born of women
there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:
notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven
is greater than he.
Matthew 11:11
If you thought in your heart, I was born after Jesus said that,
You have a lot of work left to do
We all do

If any man will come after me,
