I hate to wait
Especially when I know the answer
I know what God is going to do
Usually, the waiting seems to be His provision I am waiting for,
a miracle where He will bring some provision to pass
Consider the Lillies of the field…or the grass,
which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven…
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you,
That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field,
which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven,
shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30
Notice Jesus’ comment, O ye of little faith
Is that what it is that we have, little faith?
Jesus is not wrong, sometimes we do have little faith,
but other times, we know He is going to bring it to pass,
Behold, we count them happy which endure.
Ye have heard of the patience of Job,
and have seen the end of the Lord;
that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. James 5:11
Perhaps we just want to sort of order God around?
Quicker!
In our time!
Pronto!
God has His timing
He does not jump
When we say jump
He is sovereign
He has His reasons for waiting
We may or may not find out what they are
Stretching
Increasing patience
Fulfilling promises
Not letting our flesh be in charge
God is in charge
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9
I’m still waiting on the Lord for the same thing as I was last time
I wrote about waiting on the Lord last week
Consequently, because this one is taking so long (a little reminder to God),
Jesus performed other miracles of provisions, that I did not expect,
in the mean time
We must be closer because I know the answer is on the way
The widow with the one pot of oil that Elisha visited
She had no more of anything except that one container of oil
They were going to take her sons away to be slaves in order to pay her bills
She was in desperate need
And, finally, God took care of her, He wasn’t late
They hadn’t taken her sons yet, she was still alive and just had one pot of oil…
until the Lord answered her prayer:
Now there cried a certain woman
of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying,
Thy servant my husband is dead;
and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord:
and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee?
tell me, what hast thou in the house?
And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house,
save a pot of oil.
Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours,
even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee
and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels,
and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons,
who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more.
And the oil stayed.
Then she came and told the man of God.
And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt,
and live thou and thy children of the rest. 2 Kings 4:1-7
When Daniel prayed, he was told that his prayer was hindered
and the answer had finally arrived
Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day
that thou didst set thine heart to understand,
and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard,
and I am come for thy words.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me;
and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Daniel 10:12-13
When we are waiting for an answer to prayer,
once we have assurance that God has heard us
and we know the answer is on the way,
waiting is part of our responsibility
Trusting Jesus and not losing heart is what He is asking of us
He will come through for us, in His time
