Suffering guilt is not fun.
Suffering shame.
Rehashing mistakes made, or intentional sins.
We are far less than perfect.
We are bound to make mistakes.
We are living in a fallen world.
What is this perfection Jesus is talking about?
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matthew 5:48
Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel,
and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.
Leviticus 19:2
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:
but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that
for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12
We are not there yet.
We are encouraged by God and His word to be perfect.
That perfection is unattainable to us without Jesus’ strength, His cleansing.
We need to remember the blood sacrifice of Jesus’ redemption.
That is how we lose our shame and our guilt.
It is not that we cannot learn or grow from our choices,
but Satan would beat us to a pulp if we let Him,
as soon as possible, get things right with God.
Don’t linger, don’t waste time in a mode of guilt.
Seek His face, seek His forgiveness and His cleansing power
at His altar of grace and mercy.
But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1: 19-20
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1
Perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions,
and, as a cloud, thy sins:
return unto Me; for I have redeemed thee. Isaiah 44:22
Ignore the guilt, and realize the pathway to God has been laid,
then, accept forgiveness from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
