Taking God for Granted

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalm 27:14

The Israelites didn’t wait
They didn’t understand yet Who God was, His majesty, His Mightiness
Even though He had performed amazing miracles in their sight
They thought of God, the God of Heaven and Earth,
not sure how, but they thought of Him as being equal with any god

To be able to keep God’s miracles in our heart,
in the forefront of our mind,
we need to keep reading His word
and recognizing the miracles He has done
To forget is disrespectful to God
The Israelites forgot
They forgot so much that they built a golden calf to worship instead
They didn’t want to wait for Him
and decided they’d make a replacement for Him,
which is impossible to do:
And when the people saw that Moses delayed
to come down out of the mount,
the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron,
and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us;
for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up
out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him
. Genesis 32:1
The next thing you know,
God’s people brushed what He had done aside
and forgotten the miracles He had performed on their behalf
Let us not forget

If we take God for granted, we disappoint Him
If we think of Him as just a god, with a small g,
we’re not even close to understanding Him
A partial list of the amazing works God has done
are described in the Bible:
And there are also many other things which Jesus did,
the which, if they should be written every one,
I suppose that even the world itself
could not contain the books that should be written
. Amen. John 21:25
You will have no trouble finding miracle after miracle
where God has done marvelous wonders for His people

One of my favorite lists of miracles is Psalm 136
There is another list of miracles Paul speaks of in Hebrews 11

If you are feeling like God can’t hear you or like you can’t hear God,
read His word
Surely, He has something to tell you, to show you, to share with you
Listen
Ask, Seek and knock and you will find
He is ready to share and will do amazing works on your behalf
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
There is no shortage of miracles
Stay close to God so you don’t forget what good things He has done

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
