The Accuser, Satan, our foe
He is referred to in Revelation as The Accuser of the Brethren
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,
Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God,
and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. Revelation 12:10
He did it to Job:
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou?
Then Satan answered the Lord, and said,
From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered My servant Job,
that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man,
one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
Hast not Thou made an hedge about him, and about his house,
and about all that he hath on every side?
Thou hast blessed the work of his hands,
and his substance is increased in the land.
But put forth Thine hand now, and touch all that he hath,
and he will curse Thee to Thy face. Job 1:6-11
If you have given your life to Jesus, Satan has accused you
either to you directly or via another mortal
That is his way
He twists and turns the word on you
Brings up sins that you have done in the past
or that you may be struggling with now
While he may be right, he finds a way to put a wedge between you and God, which is the opposite of the way the Holy Spirit corrects us
When He corrects us, it is to bring us closer to the Lord Jesus
He causes Brethren to accuse Brethren
And thus the cycle goes on
All the while, with his railing accusations, trying to drive us away from God
The Lord rebuke you
Here Satan was again trying to accuse Joshua, the high priest
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest
standing before the angel of the Lord,
and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan;
even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee:
is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying,
Take away the filthy garments from him.
And unto him he said,
Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee,
and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head.
So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments.
And the angel of the Lord stood by. Zechariah 3:1-5
The Lord cleansed his garments and took away his filth in spite of Satan
Getting caught in Satan’s web of lies is the opposite of God’s best for us
Beating ourselves up because we are reminded we are less than
and have not lived up to perfection
The Lord cleanses our garments
and makes us able to stand before His presence,
unashamed because of the cleansing power of Jesus’ blood
that was shed for the remission of sin
Rejoice, the Father beckons us to come into His presence
and to receive what He has for us
Ignore and cast off the Accuser
