My friend is a Christian
He has a girlfriend who is not
She mocks God and that bothers him
He cannot share his heart with her
The time is so short to be mingling with the world
I prayed for my friend this morning
I saw him in a pit
A deep, wide, pit of dusty dirt
He was trying to climb out
He was making steps and holes in the side of the pit, in the dirt,
to be able to climb out, but no matter how hard he tried,
he couldn’t make it to the top, to get out
Just when he would make it almost to the top, he would fall back in
He gave up and started decorating the pit to be like a home
There was a rug and some furniture
A table and some cooking things
Like a home
But it was a pit of darkness and gloom
I cannot save my friend
He is staying in that pit, decorating it, trying to make it livable,
trying to make it home but it is not his home
What He does not yet know is that he cannot climb out by himself
He needs the Lord to give him a hand,
to give him strength,
to give him wisdom
He bought his girlfriend a BMW for Christmas
Decorating the pit
Making it like home
There he stays in his pit
But he knoweth not that the dead are there;
and that her guests are in the depths of hell. Proverbs 9:18
I am going to visit this friend, to let him read this, to warn him
I think he will listen
Because I think he loves Jesus and he will see he has been captured by sin
There is no easy remedy
There is no quick fix
It is a conundrum that only the Lord has the answer to
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler,
and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 18:2
