The Beauty of Holiness

For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of a dry ground:
He hath no form nor comeliness;
and when we shall see Him,
there is no beauty that we should desire Him. Isaiah 53:2

Jesus had no earthly beauty when He walked on the Earth
People dispute what Jesus looked like
The Bible said He was not attractive,
not in an earthly sense

Jesus’ outward appearance was by design
When He came to earth to die for our sins,
and represent God Himself, He would be unattractive
That was so there was nothing fleshly that would make any desire Him
God planned it that way
If any were drawn to Jesus, it was because of Who He was only,
what He said, what He did, that He was God in the flesh
It was that way when Jesus walked on the earth,
and today, we can’t see God
We are not attracted to His beauty because we cannot see it
but we can sense His beauty of holiness in the spiritual realm
which is why we choose to follow Him

We know His heart is beautiful and pure and filled with love

We read in scripture about His beauty of holiness
As with the spiritual realm,
we cannot see the beauty of holiness with our natural eyes

Beautiful women have led astray men of God such as Sampson
Beautiful people are treated better than ugly people,
some are worthy of that treatment because their insides are beautiful too, but many are not
We all have been around ultra attractive people
They are given another position, a higher position in this world.
They can have a terrible personality
and after you’ve spent time around them,
you see their insides are less impressive

The beauty we see in the natural is temporal
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised
. Psalm 31:10

Jesus’ beauty is Eternal
One day we shall see Him as He is
until then, it is by faith as He reveals His inner and outer beauty to us

Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him;
for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2

When I decided to write this today,
I said, I can’t write about that, I don’t completely understand it.
But then, I never completely understand anything about God.
He only shows us glimpses of Himself, tastes of the truth,
just enough that we can handle
and to whet our appetites to learn more.
Seek Him earnestly about the beauty of holiness
and listen to what He may show you.
I know His beauty and His holiness
are both worth the effort to find out more about. Onward…
