All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
This is an excerpt of a twitter discussion, which is an open forum, that I thought would make a good writing prompt for today. I should mention that he sent me several more tweets pointing out what he considers correcting me in the science of what I said. (See full link here):
Science4Christ was not content with my answer. To me, it was very clear that we will be judged according to our works that are written in the books. To me, the answer is very clearly defined in that scripture that our works will be Judged not according to us, but by Jesus Himself.
The two of us are seeing things from very different perspectives. The professed Science4Christ man sees Christianity and God’s word as a science, methodical and logical. I, on the other hand, look to the Holy Spirit for guidance in all things, including interpretation of His word.
I suspect an argument could go on forever with this man and his scientific logic, which is why I am going to write here and then give him this writing. It’s not wise to debate someone who is in a completely different mindset than you. It will accomplish nothing.
My goal here is to expand on our differences and show the difference between following the Holy Spirit and trying to figure things out with logic and intelligence as well as science.
I am not against science in any way shape or form. Science has its place in our world and is a fascinating study in every area, even areas which I don’t agree with such as cloning or the science of chip implantation, which is happening now as we speak. See (Neuralink roll-out here)
Science4Christ said we should judge ourselves, while that is true, “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” 1 Corinthians 11:31 While we are told to judge ourselves, this is not according to man’s judgment, but according to the Word of God, who is Jesus. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. John 1:1
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27
Jesus, while walking on earth, did nothing but what He saw the Father do and said nothing but what He heard the Father say, so that would include Judgment.
The Science4Christ man said that the bible was ambiguous. Interesting take on God’s word. The gospel is absolutely mult-faceted, like God, all of it is hidden from the carnal mind. Yes, all of it. The carnal mind can understand simply, but the revelation of the spirit is given by God only. That is why not everybody follows Jesus.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables. That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mark 4: 11-12
Jesus did not walk in the science of this world. The bible is written in parables and hidden from those who are seeking Him whose hearts have not been opened. It is impossible to understand the spiritual with the carnal mind, that is, without the Holy Spirit to bring you into the fulness of Truth. Figuring things out with our human wisdom is not where it’s at. Jesus explains that revelation of the Holy Spirit is needed to Simon Peter here:
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 16:15-17
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God….But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty…1 Corinthians 1:18&27
My prayer for Science4Christ is that he will see that science and logic and human wisdom, while they have their value, knowing Christ and His power and His resurrection is what will help us to know who God is. Knowing who God is, so then we can know Him better daily, which is the ultimate goal of Christianity, to know Jesus intimately. I say that because knowing Jesus means knowing His attributes and His character and that is how we know we can be more like Him in His fulness and serve Him willingly because He is so wonderful.
