Trying to do the cheap fix is not always cheap
I know a man who likes to save money
The problem is, he loses more than he saves at times
He cuts corners
He covers up problems
I have seen his money-saving techniques cost him more
than he can count
He was trying to sell his house
The carpet needed to be cleaned
He did not want to pay for a professional company, so he did it himself
The carpet did not look as clean or smell as fresh
as a professional company would have done
It did not get aired out properly
and the drying technique did not work with the extra water used
during the do-it-yourself style cleaning,
so it started to mold and smelled up the whole house
He tried to save money on air conditioning
and turned it off in the middle of the summer,
which would have kept the air circulating and dried the carpet better
There were several cheap tricks used to contribute to the musty smell
Most people will not buy an expensive, stinky house
How does this play into the Gospel?
I have also seen people do this with the gospel
It is not so much money they are saving but basically,
they give God the short end of the stick
With their time, their money, their efforts, their talents
We have all done it
If you think you haven’t, think again
Giving God as little as we have to to do what is asked of us
We sometimes have given God a half-baked version of our lives
It’s hard to give up everything
That is what He asks of us
Jesus doesn’t want, nor does He deserve part of our attention,
just enough to get saved
or just enough to use Him when we want a prayer answered
He knows how much or how little we have sacrificed in our walk with Him
So be careful that you are not cutting corners with God,
give Him your very best in every area
Give Him all
He knows the difference and so do we
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:
I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16
