And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
We don’t need to just choose once,
we will have many more opportunities to choose
Choosing Christ is a lifelong journey
There are no easy ways to compromise His will
You either choose Him or you choose another
That could be yourself, another human, another god, another philosophy
The decisions are always coming at us
I think of Solomon, the most wise king
He was asked what he would like from the Lord and he asked for wisdom
Solomon had so much wisdom that he was known for his wisdom
He still is
Other kings and queens came to bring him gifts and to hear him speak
The wisdom he had was astounding
He even wrote: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Somehow, along the way, Solomon lost the fear of the Lord
He was instructed by God himself in a dream
to follow all the commandments the Lord had given
Solomon chose not to follow the commandments of God
He married women from other lands
who served gods that turned his heart away from the Lord God
Solomon was so distanced from the Lord
that he was not open to His rebuke
nor did he humble himself before the Lord God as did David his father
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God,
as was the heart of David his father. 1 Kings 11:4
Anyone can choose their own way and serve other gods,
or choose to worship any idol instead of the Lord God, including themselves
The choice is yours
