The Contents of Your Book

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30

I watched a video of a man who said he was given a glimpse of a slice of heaven. He painted a portion of a library he saw which he said held books of our lives. In the books were written all of our deeds but also all of our intentions, all of our words, even all of our thoughts, everything we had done, not only what we did and said but our intentions of each moment as we went through our lives.

I pondered this painting and description. I thought of how the Lord knows when a sparrow falls to the ground and in Hebrews it says his word is a discerner of the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.

O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me…thou understandest my thought afar off…For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether…Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. from Psalm 139

I thought about the times I have been misunderstood by someone, how I had said one thing but it was interpreted another way. I thought about how I had been judged incorrectly and what I had meant to do or say. I remembered times when I hadn’t done something that I should have or had done a good deed unto the Lord and no one saw. He saw.

…I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. Revelation 2:23b

If He knows at all times how many hairs are on our heads and our every intention, that is so wonderful and so hard to comprehend. The billions of people who do live and who have lived on the earth and He, our God, our Creator can discern each thought and intention, remember every word we have spoken, every thought we have had. That is so mind-blowing that I cannot completely comprehend it.

To realize that His desire is toward us and for our good. We sometimes push Him aside, not realizing His majesty. That too, is written in each of our books.

The times we have tried to help someone, the times we have put God’s will above our own, the way we have reached out to a lesser being and He has considered that act as helping Himself. Each of those deeds will be considered.

The sins we have confessed that are covered by His blood and washed clean. The times of repentance, when we have received his cleansing redemption are also written in those books.

He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the Mighty, the Awesome and the Terrible God.
