The Forgotten Prayer

There was a lady who was telling me a terrible situation. I told her I’d pray for her and I forgot. Then I saw her a short time later and she told me thank you that it all worked out and she thanked me so much for praying.

I had no idea what to say to her. If I told her I didn’t remember to pray, that would’ve been bad. So I didn’t say anything. I wasn’t sure what to say.

The Lord answered her prayer. She didn’t need me. I suppose if I had the situation to redo, I would’ve told her that and explained that even though I am not faithful to her, God is always faithful and even though I forgot, He will never forget her.

Since that happened, I have tried to pray right when the people are telling me in case I forget again. I shouldn’t have worried about myself, because I am not the One who answers prayers anyway. Although God wants us to pray to further His Kingdom, God doesn’t need me around to perform miracles. We are merely helpers here. It did knock me down to size, which is always a good reminder that we ourselves are insignificant without Him, it is only what we do for Him, in His name, to glorify Him, that will matter.
