(A Song of degrees.) Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord;
that walketh in His ways.
For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands:
happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house:
thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Psalm 128:1-3
In other words, God will bless your life with spiritual blessings
from His very throne.
The fruit of our labors will be evident when we fear the Lord.
This is not an outward blessing, although He will care for us,
but this is specific to spiritual blessings in Him.
The work for Him is spiritual and the fruit is spiritual.
And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours,
which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering,
which is in the end of the year,
when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. Exodus 23:16
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth;
and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; Proverbs 5:10
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him:
for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Isaiah 3:10
Our ultimate fruit will be as described in the Book of Revelation:
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things
which were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;
and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man according to their works.
Revelation 20:12-13
And they were judged every man according to their works.
Works are spiritual, works for God,
good works spoken of can also be natural as they are done unto God.
Exactly what those good works are will be written in the books
and we will be judged by our own works.
I suspect it will be things like faith and obedience to God,
but I do not know exactly what they are
and I believe they are found in the word of God.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
James 2:24
I think God does not want us to get caught up in what works means,
just that we are to follow Jesus, which is a sort of work,
and obedience to what He asks us, which is also work.
We can never pay Jesus back.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
