Isaiah Chapter 6
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. v 1
This is one of the most profound visions recorded in scripture of the Lord, seated on His throne.
Without spiritual eyes, we cannot even imagine what this would be like. His train, the train of His robe filled the temple. That is representative of His glory and splendor.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face,
and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. v 2
There were seraphims, which are believed to be the highest ranking angels.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts:
the whole earth is full of His glory. v 3
The Seraphims proclaimed, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts. The whole Earth is full of His glory.”
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night, saying,
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Revelation 4:8
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. v 4
The smoke was there as a result of God’s presence.
Smoke, very pure and righteous purifying all in His presence.
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips,
and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips:
for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. v 5
Isaiah was made aware of his uncleanness. His act of repentance for what he had done
and for what he had been a part of.
He wanted to be purified and he laid his sin at the altar of the Lord
and knew he needed purification of his sin.
Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand,
which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: v 6
God knew just what to do. The seraphim took the live coal with tongs and came toward Isaiah.
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips;
and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. v 7
The seraphim then took the tongs and the burning hot coal
and when he touched Isaiah’s lips with that coal, he said,
“Lo, this hath touched thy lips and thine iniquity is taken away and thy sin purged.”
