The Meaning of Life

For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21

Finding treasure in heaven is a big part of The Meaning of Life:
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect,
go, sell what you have and give to the poor,
and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Matthew 19:21

This situation disturbs me
The rich young ruler refused Jesus’ call
He chose his riches and he chose not to part with them
We do not know when he found his regret,
whether it was in this world or the world to come

Maybe he prayed the equivalent of the sinners prayer
The problem is, we all need to get with Jesus
and find out what He is asking of us individually
Walking with Jesus, carrying your cross daily is not an easy road:
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

We are enticed by what we see on earth, what we can attain
Materialism and other things
We esteem honor and power and position in this world
What we see, feel is so real
It is real but fades fast

Our eyes are off focus most of the time
It takes time and diligence
to find that the cross is more valuable
than anything we can acquire on earth, including the honor of men

It is not easy to keep your mind on heaven and Jesus
and what He encourages us to focus on

Focus on the prize the upward calling of Christ Jesus:
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14

In the book are written all the things we have done,
all the choices we have made
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things
which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20:12

If we leave father or mother or lands for His name’s sake,
we shall receive a great reward in this life and in the life to come
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters,
or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands,
for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold,
and shall inherit everlasting life. Matthew 19:29

Our eyes get stuck on earthly rewards
but we can have Heavenly rewards while here on earth
Knowing Jesus intimately is such a reward

To know Him is to love Him

No one can convince you of that, you must find that out for yourself
You must seek God
and push aside all the things in this world that matter to you
to give Him first position in your life
The good thing is, He helps you
and it is often done little by little,
Like The Tortoise and the Hare
Such a good story,
an example of dedication, endurance, faithfulness, sticktoitiveness,
and on the flip side, to see what not to do,
the way that the fast track,
skipping the fundamentals,
trying to get there without doing the hard work
which won’t get you anywhere in the end
It may seem like you are moving and getting somewhere,
the problem is, you’re skipping the basic premise of getting to know Jesus, which is what life is all about

Yes, I would say the meaning of life, if I had to choose one idea,
is getting to know Jesus
You either do or you don’t
When you find out the importance of Jesus’ deity and His position,
all things are opened to you,
as you search diligently for Jesus, knowing Him,
nothing else really matters

Finding Jesus means you find who He is,
what He’s all about and what is important to Him

If that is not the meaning of life, then I missed it

If you learn of Him get to know Him and what He’s all about,
you will be received on the last day
You will seek to please Him up until then and He will not say to you,
“I never knew you, Depart from Me!” Matthew 7:23

How do we start?
Start in His word with the desire to know Him
Treasure Him and obey His commands

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection,
and the fellowship of his sufferings,
being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:10

Knowing Jesus and learning to know Him is the meaning of life
Our choices are before us every minute of every day
By holding Him in the greatest honor in this world,
we will have our priorities set well
and as we seek Him and seek to learn of Him,
we will be on the right path, the straight and narrow:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:14
The difficult path that will lead to Everlasting Life
