We cannot fathom the depths of God’s grace.
Our understanding is so limited of all the things of God.
We know in part.
We understand in part.
Grace is such an incredible gift.
When God shows us His grace, we are truly touched.
We are given a glimpse of Jesus’ heart.
The sweetness, the choice to extend love plus forgiveness at the same time.
To be able to see past the mire and muck that is in our own lives and hearts.
Grace is a lovely measure.
But unto every one of us is given grace
according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Ephesians 4:7
A measure of grace.
Is that like a talent and if we use it, we get more?
Could very well be.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:
and with what measure ye mete,
it shall be measured to you again. Matthew 7:2
or what about?
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure,
pressed down, and shaken together, and running over,
shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete
withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
That would make sense if you combine Jesus’ parables,
the ones where He teaches forgiveness and love and letting go,
that is, showing grace to others.
What we extend to others is the same measure we will receive.
How to get there…
Accept His grace to you, as a gift, as a blessed treasure, one that you value.
Realize His grace for you.
Seek to understand it
so that you can be an extension of His heart toward others.
If we receive grace, the most compassionate gift, that is,
the gift we don’t deserve, we remain humble.
With that humility, we are able to count others as better than ourselves
and let God give us His strength and understanding,
so that we too, may follow Christ’s example.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit,
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Philippians 2:3
