The Ripple Effect

Every single moment, God is watching us, weighing our thoughts
Seeing if we’re learning our lessons or if we need more practice
Watching if we are loving others, loving our enemies,
condemning others, letting things go, forgiving or letting bitterness grow
Are we causing strife? Are we holding onto things or letting them go?
Are we praying for those who have offended us?

I watched this the other day:

Try to watch this without anger. You may want to see God’s Judgment now, even though you probably don’t know any of the characters. Vengeance belongs to God.

If we were to see it or share it on social media,
we could find ourselves participating in division,
encouraging an emotional human response to trigger feelings or thoughts that are not beneficial in following Jesus
Anger, hostility, setting the stage for those characters to either be called stupid or weak or mean or whatever side those who read it might be on
It’s ugliness, either way, not pleasing to God to focus on offenses
And sowing discord is something God detests

Sin has a ripple effect
Even a little sin like that can grow into a cluster of sins
The root that defiles many
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;
lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you,
and thereby many be defiled
; Hebrews 12:15

This is a warning not to get entangled with self-righteousness or idolatry
as concentrating on things or situations above the Lord Jesus
will draw your heart away from Him
Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe,
whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God,
to go and serve the gods of these nations;
lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

Deuteronomy 29:18

Scriptural References:

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6: 16-19
