Note Before Reading: This is commentary of one person. Think of it more as a bible study where each person might see something that someone else didn’t see. God’s word is multifaceted and alive. We will be learning about Jesus, from His Word, through all Eternity. This is just a peek, a few gems, there are many more. I pray that each of you can draw from the well of the Lord’s word, be fed your daily bread and that this might serve as salt to flavor some things you may not have noticed before. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you into all truth.
The House on the Rock
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: v24
That is how the whole word of God is. If we listen, we are wise. The bible is filled with people who wanted to do their own thing and great was their fall. If we accept that Jesus is the Authority, His words are weightier. If we think He is just a wise prophet, then, His Words mean less.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him,
and given Him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. v25
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4
Jesus is our Rock, our Redeemer. His words are righteous and true and He is the Word. Whatever His word teaches, is the wisdom He has given us. This is compared to when Nehamiah built up the breaches in the walls of Jerusalem or where we have on our full armor of God in Ephesians 6, keeping ourselves strong in His word and in the knowledge and faith of Jesus Christ and Who He is in the Universe.
And every one that heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them not,
shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: v26
Foolish virgins, foolish kings, foolish men who tried to fight against God throughout His word. They lost. They all lost. God allowed many things to show His glory. He allowed Haman to build the gallows, He allowed Joseph’s brothers to sell him into slavery, He allowed Job’s life to be destroyed so He could rebuild it. He allowed Solomon to fall away. He allowed Judas to betray Him. We can see the wise and foolish among the characters in The Holy Bible to no end. Some were wise and some were not and their fate could be ours, whichever way we choose.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. v27
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:
for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good,
and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:45
The rains are coming. Jesus warned us of troubles we will endure on Earth:
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world. John 16:33
So, don’t think because of troubles, you are out of favor with God. He is working. He is always working in our lives, to teach us and to help us in our circumstances to draw closer to Him. His hand is on His children for good and not evil.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings,
the people were astonished at His doctrine: v28
For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. v29
Some recognized Who He was. Others did not. Just like life now and as has been throughout history. Some recognize Who Jesus is, some do not. Some gave Him great elevation, He rose to be equal with God. We have no way of knowing how many worshiped Him as King, but we do know what the bible says, that the road is narrow and few find it.
For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords,
a great God, a mighty, and a terrible,
which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: Deuteronomy 10:17
And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:
and His name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron:
and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:13-16
