Jesus spoke in parables. Sometimes I think in parables.
It is the way He teaches me from time to time.
He brings to life lessons in life
and helps me to understand His perspective that way.
I got a spider bite on Wednesday on my inner calf.
I wasn’t sure it was a spider bite, but thought it probably was.
Then, the following Friday, I got another one, this time on my hand.
I live in the country, so we do have more bugs. I try to keep things vacuumed and clean and am careful to vacuum and clean behind the furniture.
I was not successful at getting this spider.
This spider has to be larger. It has a lot of poison
and its bites swell and are painful,
but the itching is the worst part of the process.
He or she bit me again last night, a week after the last bite on my hand,
which is now almost healed.
This time the bites were twice on my inner-upper-arm.
I narrowed it down to a certain area of the house.
This is the place I spend the most time when I am home.
I can’t see any webs or signs of the spider in the immediate area.
The Parable?
The spider represents sin.
I know it’s there. I can’t pin it down.
I need to clean and purify until I find it to eradicate it, just like sin,
we can’t just deal with the symptoms, we need to get to the heart of the matter.
I’m working on that in an hour or so. I need to seal off underneath the molding, where the wall joins the floor as there is a gap there and it could be a good hiding place for a spider. I vacuum and clean, but that might not be sufficient.
I will put down boric acid in a stream as that kills all bugs.
Sin and filling in the gaps to protect from sin.
Eradication, searching, and trying to spot sin when it’s trying to hide.
Just like our spiritual walks. Keeping our armour fit and tight, no gaps,
no missing openings where the enemy can come in.
Later… I got a few words of advice today. The biggest one was: Use a bomb,
the second most popular was: Use poison spray.
I try to only use natural remedies as most poisons are carcinogens.
So after a long day, I came home and pulled my sofa out, cleaned with vinegar and soap and put down some boric acid around the couch that I like to sit on, and then, I turned the couch on its side and wiped and vacuumed all the dust I could see under the couch and on the side. Today, I bought fresh mint, rosemary and sage and put that under the couch. I’m still not sitting on it. I’m staying in another part of the house until I find this thing. I had to buy several types of itch cream and the bites are very reddish and swollen. Quite itchy, even with the anti-itch creams on them. I tried icing them, that helped a little.
All that to say, continuing with my parable, when sin has been around, there are repercussions, results; things that are affected; things that need to be dealt with. We can’t always get rid of sin in one try. So, I will leave this here and continue with as many parts as it takes to finish the Parable.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 6:12
