Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:
I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34
Jesus did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
The Prince of Peace came to bring peace between man and God
and that is His primary focus.
In order for His peace to rest on us with God, who is a holy God,
He must separate us from anything that interferes
in our relationship with God, even if that includes other people.
He came to divide the Holy from the Profane.
The right from the wrong.
The truth from the lies.
God is a divider.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
God is not interested in the way things look in the natural,
with the facades of loveliness,
the masks that people wear to hide their inner motives.
God is truth. He sees the truth, He demands the truth from each of us.
Some people don’t like that.
They would rather not know the truth or create their own truth.
Our culture at present has a term, ‘My Truth’ which means
the way they think, the way they believe,
the things they accept about their life.
Jesus is the truth.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6
Those who refuse that truth will be judged harshly.
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:12
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth,
but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Romans 2:8
It will not go well for those who refuse the truth.
Their names may be blotted out of the book of life.
It is important to keep His commandments.
One who says, “I know Him,” and doesn’t keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him. 1 John 2:4 WEB
When you feel that sword of division, either in your own self,
where Jesus is showing you your inward parts
there is not much you can do to stop it sometimes.
He is likely revealing your heart to you,
so you can allow Jesus to purify you.
Or, it could be, you are experiencing divisions in a larger sense,
between you and persons in your life
who are not helpful in your walk with the Lord.
Put things in His hands and let the chips fall where they may.
If Jesus wants to put the pieces back together again, then,
most likely, they won’t fit together exactly the way they did before.
Remember Who executes the sword of division.
It will affect you if you are walking with Him.
Realize that work is necessary
to keep you unentangled from the world and all of its encumbrances.
Onward.
