The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:
who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9-10
The Sword of His Mouth
Have you ever felt that?
The sword of His mouth?
It’s not really a feeling, well, it’s an all-encompassing feeling,
One that surrounds you, that cuts deep and exposes rottenness
or the thoughts that are hidden deep inside,
that you might not even have known were there,
but Jesus shows you your heart.
It’s almost like He takes the contents of your heart in His hand
and exposes them and examines them so you can see what is there, too.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
The fear of the Lord is present when He shows you inside your heart.
The desire to please Him and being humble before Him
is an automatic response.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Proverbs 15:3
His word goes deep, separating what is good for use
and what shall be tossed aside.
If we do not separate ourselves from the flesh, if we cling to the flesh
or to sin or anything other than God, we risk being tossed in the fire,
right along with whatever it is we might be holding onto.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:
but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:12-13
All of our innards, our inner workings, our thoughts, feelings, intentions,
the good, the bad and the ugly, are open to God.
Jesus sees each thought, hears each purpose and, if we are willing,
He will expose them that we may seek His cleansing and renewal.
For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth,
and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth. Hebrews 12:6
If God is working in this way in your life,
that is because He cares and is working to perfect yourself in Him.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord,
and He pondereth all his goings. Proverbs 5:21
