That there should be no schism in the body;
but that the members should have the same care one for another
1 Corinthians 12:25
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Those trying to one up themselves, to climb to the top
so others can see how righteous and holy and strong in the Lord they are?
Jesus is not impressed.
Jesus is the least of these as He said in His word:
And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto Me. Matthew 25:40
We are to count others better than ourselves.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Philippians 2:3
If we treat someone else badly, that is the same as treating Jesus badly.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar:
for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen,
how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4:20
We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Yes, Jesus did command this.
He said the whole law is wrapped up in these two commandments:
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together,
and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked Him,
Which is the first commandment of all?
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment.
And the second is like, namely this,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:28-31
So the next time you get that twinge of how great you are,
move quickly to a lower position.
We all do it and we all are to humble ourselves before the Lord.
We live in a fleshly world and our minds need to be stayed on Jesus.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5
Additional Scriptures:
And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
Isaiah 26:3
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:37
