This World is not Our True Home

For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. Hebrews 13:14

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Luke 9:58

We are strangers here
Citizens of another galaxy far far away
in the Heavens
with Jesus

We have to dwell here for now
until our time on earth is done
this is what we see and know,
and, at times, have to trudge through

There are pleasantries here
This is where we are honed
and given the opportunity to choose life or death,
blessing and cursing
where we are to spend some time
not too long
our lives are relatively short

Our lives are but a vapor
The earth will be swallowed up
nothing here will matter
except for what we have done to glorify the Lord

While it seems that we have to endure trials for far too long,
once they are passed,
we forget them quickly

Jesus is always there for us
when we call,
even when we don’t,
He’s listening in case we do

Focus on the lovely,
the beautiful,
the good things in life
Learn to be content in every situation
Cultivate your relationship with Jesus
who is the Author and Finisher of our faith

If we consider the world
and all the things we see of more importance than God,
we will be misled
Think of all the humans that lived and died before us
and realize that is our fate as well
it is a truth we must not ignore

As pilgrims, crusaders for Christ in our own way
we allow Jesus to touch others’ lives through us
and make our lives count for His purpose
Look for the riches that cannot be seen with the human eye
we will be fulfilled and our hunger for purpose will be satisfied

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2 Peter 3:13-14

Scriptural References:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philippians 4:11

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
James 4:14
