{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.}
O Lord, Thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
Thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, Thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid Thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there:
if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me.
Psalm 139:1-10
We get used to God as we know Him, as we have learned about Him,
meaning, as Jesus has made Himself known to us
and as He has shown us parts of His character
That is what makes knowing Him so fascinating, we learn more,
and yet there is so much more to learn and understand about Him
He is a spiritual being, no flesh, not ruled by the flesh,
not swayed by the flesh, like we are
There is so much more to God than what our mere mortal minds can grasp, some revelations we can comprehend, others are more difficult
How do we understand how big He is?
That He fills Heaven and Earth?
That He keeps a record of every word uttered,
of every thought produced by each human’s mind?
It’s too high for us to understand it all
Let us just consider some of His characteristics
He formed the Earth in the palms of His hands Isaiah 40:12
He knows our every thought Psalm 139:2
He examines our hearts Proverbs 21:2
He fills Heaven and Earth Jeremiah 23:24
He created each of us in our mother’s womb Job 10:11
His mercies are with out end
Jesus Christ has made a way for us to be acceptable to God by His sacrifice,
even though He is pure holiness and we are not worthy
He loves us
He teaches each of us and He responds to each of us
He is there, He is everywhere
