Three Guys

I don’t know these three guys personally
You might know who they are, you might not
Who they are isn’t so important
if we are thinking about the Kingdom of God
They were together in a group a long time ago
They sang for Jesus, wrote, toured
and spread the message of the gospel as one mind and heart
They also put together a book about those who had suffered for Christ
They sang a song called Jesus Freak
In case you are not aware,
Jesus Freak was a term used unaffectionately for Christians
who were considered to be too outspoken for Christ
They later split the group and went their own ways
and all three still sang for the Lord…until

Now two still sing for Jesus
And have continued to live their lives for Christ,
The third one has chosen another path, a path of darkness,
a path of enticement, and a path that leads away from Christ
His words: I am an Exvangelical
That means one who does not hold the tenets of Evangelical Christianity
The Exvangelical website has a section titled Stop Following the Bible
This guy said he follows the Universal Christ

He chose the broad road
They have been divided both in their work and their mission for God
Now, two still follow Christ, walking the narrow road
The division has happened, the wheat from the tare
If we can’t or won’t carry our cross, then we cannot be Jesus’ disciple

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me,
cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27

You may know someone in your life who has chosen to take the broad road
That is, they have chosen the world, chosen not to follow Christ
Following Christ and His teachings and standing for what He said
can be very difficult at times, depending on who hears

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate,
and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction,
and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:13

Jesus said that if we are ashamed of Him and His words,
so will He be ashamed of us

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me
and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation;
of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed,
when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark 8:38

The times are getting more divisive
There are fewer places to find middle ground
We still have to love, but expect to be divided
from those who will not serve Christ

Remember to rejoice and leap for joy
when you are persecuted for righteousness’ sake

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you,
and when they shall separate you from their company,
and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil,
for the Son of man’s sake.
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy:
for, behold, your reward is great in heaven:
for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
Luke 6:22-23

When I saw a photo of that guy, the one who walked away,
his eyes had a darkness in them
The light of Christ was not there, inside
Let no one draw you away from Christ,
no matter how important they are to you
I believe there is a potential to lose many people we love as the days go on
Jesus Christ has to be our all and our most important
And because iniquity shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:12
Pray always that your love not grow cold
and always keep unforgiveness and hate out of your heart
