To Speak or not to Speak that is God’s Choice

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord.
And, behold, the Lord passed by,
and a great and strong wind rent the mountains,
and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord;
but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake;
but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire:
and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 9:11-12

I love how Jesus was quiet at times

There were many instances where Jesus was quiet
He didn’t answer
When He wrote on the ground
while the people wanted to stone the adulterous woman
When Pilate had the power to release Him and power to Crucify Him,
Jesus answered Pilate not a word

Our same God, Jesus,
Jesus our Lord, the Messiah and God has highly exalted Him
and given Him a name above every name,
as Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever,
He has always been a part of God,
He was silent to Job and to Job’s comforters for quite some time Job 38
He was quiet to Jonah while He ran away
and put him in a position so that Jonah would want to listen Jonah 2
He didn’t say a word to Jospeh’s brothers
when they sold him into slavery Genesis 45:7

He was even quiet to Adam and Eve when they were enticed by the serpent
He let Abraham take his first born son and prepare him as a sacrifice before He sent the Angel of the Lord to stop him.

God has His reasons and His timing
He holds back and lets people do what they want,
sometimes to test their obedience
After they have made their choices, He speaks
That is not always the case,
sometimes He will warn
and let people know what He is thinking beforehand
to help them do what is right

His word is there for all of us
We have His total and complete word
If we want to know His will, His will is written down
and there are many similar situations that others have encountered
that help us to grow our faith and know His will
We also have His Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us into all truth

If He is silent, He is silent
Rest in that
Keep listening in case He is trying to show you something
and trying to tell you something
Don’t get off-track like the Israelites did
when Moses was gone for what they thought was too long,
they built the golden calf to worship since God wasn’t around
When He is quiet, do you still believe?
Do you still trust?
When you cannot see His workings in your life,
do you still know He is working in your life?
That He is Lord of Heaven and Earth?
That He will never forsake you?

Stay faithful to what you know is right
Stick close to the word He has already spoken to you,
the things He has already taught you and shown you by His Holy Spirit

There will be times when He does not speak
That is part of God
Sometimes He is quiet
He is still there
Be patient, learn to seek Him more earnestly during those times
and He will answer you, He will reveal Himself to you,
keep trusting and letting Him increase your faith

I have experienced times when I didn’t want to wait for God
to tell me something, either something He was doing
or something that was happening
I wanted the answer right then
Sometimes I would ask people what they thought,
hoping the answer would be there
Most often it was not
Nobody knows how to answer like God
Nobody has the wisdom and insight that God has,
no matter how smart they are or how close to God they are
While answers sometimes do come from people,
the most satisfying understandings come from God Himself
and if we just rest in Him, He will show us what He is doing
and sometimes and sometimes not, He will show us why

Trusting in Him and resting in the place He has you is somewhat difficult
Remembering that He works all things together for good
for those who love Him
and those who are called according to His purpose
is the best assurance we can have
Knowing that things are in His hands
That He knows the beginning from the end
and that He will never fail you nor forsake you
Rest in that
Rest in Him
Rest in His grace
Rest in His love
Rest even when He’s silent
Rest knowing He has all things that concern you in His hands

Scriptural References:

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman
taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
They say unto him,
Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned:
but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him.
But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground,
as though he heard them not.
John 8:3-6

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it
And the chief priests accused him of many things:
but he answered nothing. And Pilate asked him again, saying,
Answerest thou nothing?
behold how many things they witness against thee.
But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
Mark 15:2-5

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:
and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:13

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:27

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them:
for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee;
he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deuteronomy 31:6
