Who does Sin Belong to?
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
Proverbs 20:9
We’re really smart now, since Adam and Eve sinned
to gain access to the knowledge of good and evil
by taking and eating of the tree
They didn’t know before
They were pure
Their lives were much more simple, just looking to God
And once we receive Jesus as Savior,
we spend our time on earth trying to undo what they did
which really can’t be undone except by the sacrifice of Christ
We won’t be sinless until we meet Him face to face
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,
but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12
Once they fell into sin, they fell to another dimension
and we all fell right along with them
They gained access to sin and self-righteousness and pride,
thinking they were like God able to see with new eyes
Many persons in the Bible have tried to outsmart sin
by doing things their own way, by being good
by choosing what they thought was best
instead of doing what pleases God and what He asks of us
Our righteousness seems right unto us
But we are all as an unclean thing,
and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6
The problem is we cannot pay God back, no matter how hard we try
Without accepting His blood sacrifice and resurrection,
we are never going to be the perfect beings we were created to be
Jesus is the door
I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:9
We can’t try hard enough, we can’t give enough ever to pay Jesus back
The humility we offer Him when we receive His gift of Salvation
and the continuous sacrifice of our own souls we give Him as a gift
is pleasing in His sight, living our lives in Him, dead to the flesh
It is impossible in this world to repay the Lord
Continually offering ourselves to Jesus so we live our lives pleasing to Him
That is what He requires
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6:6-7
Cleanse your heart before the Lord
Even that we cannot do on our own
We need God for all our spiritual cleansing,
lest we fail when we try to cleanse ourselves
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts. Proverbs 21:2
So, returning to the question: To whom does sin belong?
To us, and then it is up to us to hand it over to God,
in our lack of ability, remembering that no matter how hard we try,
we are unable to cleanse sin from us
This reminds us to carry our own cross
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me,
is not worthy of Me. Matthew 10:38
As often as we need to. we are to lighten our load at the foot of His cross
Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when He shall appear,
we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 2:2
