I’m moving and I have a big house to clear out
Everywhere is stuff
Too much stuff
Under the bed,
in the closets,
on the walls,
in the cupboards
I think the Lord wanted me to get to this point
A slice of my love of the world that we are supposed to hate
Comforts and beauty and accumulation
It reminds me of when the Israelites were demanding meat
and God said, I’ll give them meat,
so much meat it will be coming out their nostrils
And say thou unto the people,
Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh:
for ye have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying,
Who shall give us flesh to eat?
for it was well with us in Egypt:
therefore the Lord will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days,
nor twenty days; But even a whole month,
until it come out at your nostrils,
and it be loathsome unto you:
because that ye have despised the Lord which is among you,
and have wept before him, saying,
Why came we forth out of Egypt? Numbers 11:18-20
The lust of the eyes
The ability to live like Kings in our nation,
while our culture creates the perfect storm for us as Christians
I have learned to hate stuff
you need what you need
and you don’t need anymore
excess is unnecessary
It took me a long time to get here
If you still love your things,
I encourage you to commit your way to the Lord in that area
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?”
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.
