How do we guard ourselves against deception?
Seek the Lord vs Seek your own way
Love the truth vs Love your own thoughts
Humble yourself vs Exalt yourself, even if only in your own mind
Bring your sin to the cross for forgiveness vs ignore your sin and try to do better on your own
When the Israelites were in Egypt, there was a darkness which could be felt.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven,
that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. Exodus 10:21
Keep your mind submitted to Jesus,
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5
If you want to walk in the truth, love the truth, accept the truth which is found in God’s word.
If you disagree with something in there, commit it to the Lord.
Why? Because He is God and He is always right.
If you choose to deny the truth or detest the truth or ignore the truth, that will not end well for you.
Not choosing the truth will not end well for any one who does not love the truth.
It takes genuine humility. Humility before God. Not trusting your own faulty judgment.
It takes committing your ideas that fight against God’s word into His hands
so He can help you to keep carrying that cross He gave you, to keep walking in Jesus’ will and His way.
