I heard of two miracles the other day
Both where the hand of God was evident
Both where people were used to help those in need
Both of the wonderous love and graciousness of Jesus
Both persons were in difficult predicaments
Both received provisions that satisfied each need
One received a smaller amount and one received a greater amount
They shared their testimonies
After listening to the one who received the smaller amount,
the one who received the larger amount said to the one who received the smaller amount, ‘My blessing is much greater, listen to MY story!’
Spiritual competition is not pleasing to God
He shows no favoritism or partiality
For there is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11
He gives as He sees fit and He responds to prayer and is moved by faith
Sometimes, He surprises you even when you don’t have quite enough faith
as Jesus is full of grace and mercy
And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears,
Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Mark 9:24
I thought about these two persons, the one with the larger gift
and the one with the smaller gift
God was working in each life as the need arose
He arranged circumstances
and touched people’s hearts who were willing vessels
The one with the lesser amount said to the one with the greater amount,
‘You believed God from the beginning. You knew God was going to come through.’
The one with the lesser amount is a new Christian
She has recently been born again
God showed her mercy and compassion and cared for her in her time of need
He touched a heart who became a willing vessel who was able to help her
Do you think because the other lady has walked with God for many years
got a larger blessing because of her merits?
The other one, walked in faith and knew God would work it out
Her attitude about assuming she got a greater blessing than the other one because the amount was greater was displeasing to the Lord
The amount was more than 10x in actual dollars
In the human mind, that is a greater blessing
Money is not the blessing
The fact that the Lord took care of each of their concerns is the blessing
He is our provider and He cares for us
Which was greater?
Or were they the same?
Or because God had to reach down further to give the newer Christian faith by actually doing the miracle before she yet fully believed?
That miracle might’ve been one of her first miracles of God she experienced
God bless her
The more seasoned Christians are not better
We all rely on the Lord, when He does what He does for each of us
Humility in our walk reminds us
that we are to count others better than ourselves
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Philippians 2:3
We are not great because we believe
We are not great because we have faith
We are not great because God loves us
or because we have served Him many years
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another,
envying one another. Galatians 5:26
Love the brethren and keep Jesus as the focus
His miracles are from Him
Let us be glad for both miracles
and that we have been reminded of how much God cares for each one of us
He is always working
The miracles He performs are individual and from Him
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you,
not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3
